In late 2023 my partner wanted to go to a workshop that happened to be focusing on how to make puppets on a limited budget run by @ZappBackagain and I have been obsessed since.
I've always liked puppets but this lit a fire under my ass about it.
I began sculpting out of household waste and eventually I tried to recreate what I had learned at the workshop but kept getting frustrated with the sensory experience of the materials I was using (workshop taught how to make puppets using old car sponges) so I went looking for alternative and found puppet nerds free patterns and the rest is history.
The Puppet crew so far
This is a self portrait I did. You cant see it in this photo but the puppet has versions of my tattoos cut out of felt.
This is a Portrait I did of my sister. The Puppet generally wears a watermelon shirt and orange shorts, so does my sister. Her hair are my extensions that I stopped wearing due to tension headaches.
Works In Progress
On hiatus
This is my first puppet I made with the puppet nerd pattern but I printed it A3 and so it was too large. I'm considering scrapping to recycle the materials but I'm hesitant cause it was my first.
In progress - Troubleshooting a body, looks like I will use giant head from 68 ways to build really big puppets but I am unsure
This ones going to be a portrait of my partner. I have some hair/fur in mind but I'm not sure how I'm going to proceed from here.
